Mrs. Coulter's Cues for Beating
the Summer Slump:
1) Daily - Read, read, read . . . the editorial page of the newspaper, fun books, books that challenge you!!! Check out lexile.com and type in a random paragraph of your book if the book isn't lexiled. Try to read at least 20 minutes per day!
2) Weekly - Read a nonfiction Achieve3000 lesson, complete the Activity, and take the Thought Question seriously. Try to keep up with these current events/articles 1-2 times per week!
3) Monthly - Use Holt Online Essay Scorer to write a first draft of an essay and submit for scoring. Once you submit and get your score, click on the Model Essay and try to follow the feedback you receive from the computer to make your essay better. Keep revising & resubmitting until you get the score you want!
